DISCOVERING LAKE MAGGIORE

First excursion for the Swedish students in Castellanza: Saturday, 8th March the group went on a bus + boat trip to Lake Maggiore.

First destination : Stresa where Italians and Swedish took two boats and reached the three Borromeo Isles - Isola Madre, Isola Bella e Isola dei Pescatori.

The weather was definitely not perfect but at least it was not raining !
Anyway, this could not refrain the fun of the group, as you can see...

The Borromeo Isles were discovered on foot, by climbing their narrow pictoresque streets.
The visitors could have a short impression of what tourists from all over the world come and see in spring and winter.

Second part of the trip : the town of Arona, renowned shopping centre from where you can enjoy beautiful scenarios on Lake Maggiore.

Before shopping and relaxing another challenge for our group : climbing the statue of San Carlo Borromeo, one of the biggest bronze statues in the world, officially inaugurated in 1689.

23 meters high, the statue can be climbed inside so that at the end you will be able to have a look at the Lake through the nose and the eyes of the saint !
The Swedish students and teachers accomplished the task very well, joining the 10,000 visitors the statue welcomes every month.
After this the group went downtown Arona to have a stroll through the shopping street or sip a cappuccino and relax before coming back home.
