A few star athletes have recently demanded one hours PE a day. The government plans to increase the number of PE classes in school. The Purpose is to reduce child obesity. But the question is: do they choose the right method?
Many children feel under pressure because of PE and the high demands on performance. The one who doesn’t perform well easily gets to be the bullied victim.
The PE in school is much about performance and competition. Every student doesn’t have the interest or condition to succeed. And it doesn’t always have to be overweight children who fail.
The PE is often a situation where students are exposed to bullying and the students who don’t perform well are often left out. The school with many good athletes often have more bullied victims because there is such a big difference between them.
The good football and hockey players are the most popular in school. It doesn’t matter how they perform in school or how good friends they are.
There are more options on how to increase the children´s health, for example you can inform about how you should eat well. You have to reduce the demands on performance. Then the PE-education will suit all the students.
