A visit to the Ice Hotel

And finally came the day of the longest trip we had ever done: a trip to Kiruna and the Ice Hotel of Jukkasjarvi.
The Ice Hotel is definitely one of the most amazing art and architectural products of human creativity and ability, a whole hotel made of ice blocks derived from the frozen river Torne, which is rebuilt every single year and is open from November to April.

After a long bus trip of nearly four hours' drive we finally came to Jukkasjarvi.

At the entrance of the Ice Hotel all of us were really longing to see the famous ice construction.

After looking around for a while we could start our visit with our tour guide...

The first surprise was entering the small ice chapel, where special marriages take place every year.

Like all other rooms of the hotel, the chapel is remade every single year and every year new artists commit themselves to the creation of a new work of art in ice.

But there comes the time to enter the Ice-hotel...

and to our eyes a wonderful view opens up: the Ice Hotel can host 120 guests and has different kinds of rooms, from the " regular " ones to the Art Suites.

All the Art Suites are designed and created by artists from all over the world and represent various topics.

The rooms are equipped with an ice-bed, ice-armchairs and tables, ice-sculptures and furniture...

Some rooms can be " family " rooms...

The atmosphere is dream-like, better to say that of a fairy tale..

To complete the visit an ice-bar couldn't be missing..

Seized by enthusiasm, our special group of visitors set off to the town of Kiruna, whose church was considered as the most beautiful Swedish building in 2002 ..

On the way back our eyes were full of all the beautiful impressions of the day and the mood was up among the students...

Against a particular sunset we said goodbye to Lappland and its wonderful landscapes.

Another day was over.
